It took me over 40 years to even know I had any power and I am still learning what that even means to me.
Do we own our power? Do we give it away when conflict arises? How do we wield such personal power? What does How we wield it say about wHo we are?
Lessons all, to be sure.
Conflict in any form, has always had my words tuck tail and run and I LOVE words, so it can be quite humbling.
I stutter, my stomach turns into butterfly knots & I want to be anywhere but where the conflict is.
However, since I know this about myself, I have been actively working on being true to ME & how I tick.
I see personal power as being comfortable and grounded enough in your own skin and with your own belief system, whatever that may be to you, that when the unknown passes thru your web line, you choose silent observation first.
When you take a moment to recite the words in your head before choosing to respond, you learn to be the editor-in-chief of your story instead of staying the grunt.
It takes practice and I belive that it always will.
Listen to your heart & no matter what is thrown our direction in the way of words or any other precieved conflict, remember...
"Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent."
- Eleanor Roosevelt
“Remember, NO ONE has the right to control your emotions, thoughts, and actions, unless you let them.”
- Kevin J. Donaldson
To this day, I still get the butterfly knots in my stomach and I still sometimes stammer, but I have my moments when it all seems to fall into place at the right time, and I try to pay attention when it does.
More often than not now, I choose silence and quiet observation.
I learn way more when I get out of my own way.
Own your power
Use it for good, use it with LOVE and stay
